There are some homes you move into… and others that quietly become part of you. This has been the latter.
Seven years ago, I arrived at this striking detached barn conversion in the peaceful parish of St Agnes, not quite realising just how much it would come to mean to me. From the very beginning, there was something special about it — the way the light poured through the vast expanses of glass, the sense of space, the calm of the surrounding countryside. It felt like a place where life could truly unfold.
Over time, it became more than just a house. It became home.
Set within a third of an acre, the property offers a rare blend of contemporary design and warmth. The layout has been a joy to live in — nearly 2,700 sq. ft of beautifully considered space, where every room feels both generous and welcoming. Each of the four double bedrooms has its own en-suite, giving everyone their own private retreat, something that has made both everyday living and hosting guests feel effortless.
The heart of the home is filled with light. The oak staircase, with its glass and stainless steel balustrade, is not just a feature but a focal point — catching the sunlight and drawing it through the house in a way that constantly changes with the seasons. It’s something I’ve never tired of.
Upstairs, the master suite has been my sanctuary. With its dressing room, well-appointed shower room, and vaulted ceiling, it has a real sense of calm and space. But it’s the triple-aspect cathedral-style French doors that make it truly special — opening out onto a wide, sunny balcony where mornings begin quietly and evenings wind down with the last of the light.
The house has been carefully maintained and thoughtfully presented throughout, with plantation shutters adding both style and practicality. Outside, the landscaped gardens are designed to be low maintenance, yet always inviting — a place to sit, relax, and enjoy the peace of the rural surroundings.
There’s also the practicality that has made daily life easy: ample parking for up to eight cars, and a substantial double garage with an electric up-and-over door. It’s a home that works as beautifully as it looks.
Location has been another of its greatest gifts. Tucked away in a tranquil setting, yet incredibly well connected — with easy access to the A30 and just a short distance from some of Cornwall’s most stunning north coast beaches, including Porthtowan, Trevaunance Cove, Chapel Porth, Portreath, and Perranporth. Falmouth is within easy reach on the south coast, and Truro — just eight miles away — offers everything you could need, including the main hospital at Treliske.
It’s rare to find a home that balances space, light, privacy, and accessibility so effortlessly.
This was meant to be my forever home. And that is what makes this decision so difficult.
After seven very happy years, I am incredibly sad to be moving on. This house has held so many memories, so many quiet moments, and so much joy. It is a place that has been deeply loved — and I have no doubt it will be again.
I hope the next owners will feel what I felt when I first arrived: that sense of something truly special, and the beginning of a new chapter.
Do you like this story?
If there’s one thing that an estate agent’s listing could never truly capture, it’s the feeling of living here.
It’s the way the house seems to breathe with the light — how the mornings begin softly as sunlight filters through the glass, and how, by evening, the entire space glows with warmth. It’s the sense of calm that settles around you the moment you arrive home, a quietness that can’t be described in square footage or specifications.
It’s also the balance this home offers — feeling peacefully tucked away in the countryside, yet knowing that within minutes you can be standing on the cliffs, looking out over the sea, or heading easily towards Truro or beyond. That contrast has been one of the greatest joys of living here.
But more than anything, it’s the memories and the atmosphere. This has been a home filled with laughter, quiet mornings, busy family moments, and peaceful evenings on the balcony watching the light change across the landscape. There’s a comfort here, a sense of belonging, that simply can’t be photographed or written into a brochure.
It’s not just a beautiful property — it’s a place that has truly been lived in and loved. And that is something you can only really feel when you’re here.
