I bought my home in 2017 after a painful separation and as soon as I opened the door I knew instantly that this was going to be my home. I fell in love with the open plan kitchen diner and envisaged having my own family in that home and my friends coming over and hanging out around the breakfast bar. I fell in love with the beautiful fireplace, high ceilings and original features. I originally wanted to live closer to the sea but realised my budget wasn’t going to stretch. But I’m so glad I found my house as it ticked all the boxes. It’s the first house I’ve ever lived in that actually felt like home. Having lived in lots of questionable student houses and shared places with friends, like many of us, I’ve learned how much neighbours play an important role in how peaceful your home feels. I’ve been so fortunate that I’ve had the same neighbours both sides the whole time (both families with grown up children) I’ve lived here and the majority of the families around me have been there longer than me!
I have had so many wonderful times in the house, including raising my dog Bali who we had since she was a puppy. One of the things I’ve loved the most about where I live, is all the amazing cafes and restaurants that I go to regularly – most of them are dog friendly and know her order well!
Southsea is flat so having a bike and cycling around the city especially in the spring/summer months has been amazing. At the back of the house there is a garden gate leading onto a private side entrance shared with several of my neighbours, great to getting bikes in and out of! The garden is perfect for relaxing in, without having to require a lot of work so it’s allowed me to spend more time enjoying it!

How quiet the house and surrounding area is. It’s such a lovely area of Southsea, so close to the independent shops, cafes and the beach but also on a quiet street where you can relax in your home, The neighbours are pretty much all families. Recently, someone who was thinking of buying my house stayed the night with her dog, and she couldn't believe how big, and how quiet the house felt. That's why I've loved living there for almost 10 years.
