David's favourite corners of home...

HOME STORY: After 44 happy years raising first children, then grandchildren in this happy family home, we are ready to move onto our next chapter and let the next family enjoy Lyndhurst

There hasn’t been a morning during the past forty- four years, when coming downstairs I haven’t paused to take in the view from the back of our house in Norton St Philip. It changes throughout the day of course and through the seasons, but always at is centre is the village church, the cricket ground, and the road winding its way southwest across the Somerset countryside towards Wells, fourteen miles away.
Lyndhurst, originally built as the Post Office over 150 years ago is set right at the heart of the village and its many-roomed and flexible accommodation proved ideal for our large family and in later years as somewhere from which to run a publishing business. Fewer than seven miles from Bath, Frome, Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon, and less than one and a half hours from the Dorset or North Somerset coasts, it was the perfect location in which our growing children could flourish.
Its thick stone walls, four living rooms and large kitchen diner made it ideal for entertaining, equally a place for someone seeking solitude in a quiet corner. And its tree-lined walled garden was perfect for children’s parties or al fresco dining.
We will leave with some regret though with a lifetime of memories as Lyndhurst has always been and will always be, a happy house.
