Toby, looking to rent in Barnstaple

This will be my first rental in my life, I am wanting to progress my career and build my own life away from my family home.

All I want is a 1 bed flat/studio. Enough space for a bed, a sofa and tv and whatever whimsical decorations I acquire from random second hand shops over the years. A toilet/showeroom. Preferably with a bath basin but not essential. And a small but convenient kitchen with enough space to cook and prepare meals for one person.

*I’m Toby. I’m 19 years old. I would describe myself as a chilled out person, who sticks to themselves outside of work. But like most people, I love chatting with people, making new friends and going to new places. I love trying new foods, and playing new games on consoles. Big gamer! I also love trying new hobbies and finding things I enjoy doing. I like baking, and want to open my tastebuds to new recipes.

*Perfect Saturday morning: depends on the mood! Maybe I want to do an early morning shop around town, going to charity shops. Or I’ll go for a coffee and a catchup with a friend (that’s when we both have a day off that doesn’t clash, that is!) Or maybe I’ll book a restaurant somewhere I haven’t been before. On the other hand, I’ll stay at home, relaxing and catching up with my self and mental health by playing games, watching shows and relaxing.

*Passions and interests: my career, youth work is one of my biggest passions. As for interests I’d say gaming, trying random hobbies. And animals, I have a level 2 in animal care and used to want to become a guide dog trainer before youth work swept me up!

*Heart warming story: I repeat a lot about my career but it’s important to me. I grew up in Tamworth which is just outside of Birmingham where there weren’t many youth clubs. When I moved down to Devon, I had a small group of friends. One of which pulled me to a local youth club. I loved it there and it allowed me to be myself, but the youth workers there also helped me realise that my words are important, so for every young person. I became a volunteer there eventually and did just over 100+ hours of it, I met so many new people, was given some fantastic opportunities and developed my want to become a great youth worker. I got a 7 hour job there, and again did a lot more. To the present day, I am now a senior youth support worker apprentice and will eventually become a qualified youth worker, doing more for young people in Devon then ever. I always like to say the youth club helped “unlock my potential”. Now it’s time for me to do the same :)
