This next chapter is not one I ever imagined I would be writing so soon. My journey to moving has come about through a change in circumstances, shaped by health and the need to think more carefully about how I live day to day. After much reflection, it has become clear that I need to downsize to a home that offers easier, more accessible living — ideally a bungalow or a house with well-designed downstairs accommodation that can support me more comfortably in the years ahead.
It hasn’t been an easy decision. My current home was meant to be my forever home, and letting go of that vision has been incredibly difficult. But sometimes life asks us to adapt, and this is one of those moments. What hasn’t changed, however, is my deep connection to where I live. Over the past seven years, I have fallen completely in love with the parish of St Agnes and its surrounding coastline — the sense of community, the beauty of the landscape, and the peaceful pace of life are things I simply couldn’t imagine leaving behind. Because of that, it’s very important to me that my next home — my new “forever home” — remains within a five-mile radius of where I am now.
Staying close means I can continue to enjoy the places that have become part of my everyday life, from the nearby beaches to the familiar routes, faces, and comforts that make this area so special to me. While this move is driven by necessity, it is also about finding a new kind of home — one that still offers warmth, security, and happiness, just in a way that better suits my needs now. I move forward with hope, even though it is bittersweet, trusting that the right place is out there — somewhere close by, where I can begin again while still holding onto everything I love about this corner of Cornwall.
